19th UCAN Conference 2025:
„Future-Oriented Examinations – Competencies for Tomorrow’s Healthcare“
Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
Dear UCAN Partners and Colleagues,
We are delighted to invite you to the 19th UCAN Conference, which will take place on April 14–16, 2025, in collaboration with Karl Landsteiner University of Health Sciences in Krems, Austria. The pre conference will take place on April 14 in cooperation with the Austrian Medical Chamber in Vienna.
This year’s conference will focus on reimagining assessment formats, methods, and technologies to better prepare future physicians and healthcare professionals for the challenges of tomorrow’s healthcare landscape.
We warmly invite you to contribute to the program by hosting a workshop or delivering a short presentation. To participate, please submit your abstract by February 16, 2025, via email to research@cares.institute.
The conference will cover a wide range of key topics, including:
- Competency-driven assessment formats (e.g., OSCE, SJT, EPA,ProgressTest)
- Interprofessional assessments
- Technical tools, quality assurance, and workflow optimization
- Harnessing artificial intelligence in education and assessment
- Ethical and data privacy considerations in AI-powered assessments
- Digital assessments addressing emerging competencies (e.g., Population Health, Planetary Health, Digital Medicine, Patient Safety, Public Health, Health Literacy, Scientific Literacy)
We are excited to hear your ideas and collaborate on pioneering new directions for healthcare assessment strategies. Please feel free to share this invitation with colleagues who may be interested.

Guidelines for Abstract Submission
(Short Presentation & Workshop)
- The abstract can be chosen as a short presentation (duration: approx. 15 minutes = 12minutes presentation + 3 minutes discussion) or workshop (duration: 90 minutes).
- The abstract must be written in English language.
- The abstract must not exceed 3,000 keystrokes (including spaces, excluding references).
- The title must not exceed 250 keystrokes (including spaces).
- The abstract should, if possible, follow this structure: Research Question/Objective, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, and Target Audience.
